abundance

“happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.” ~Gautama Siddharta

When I sat down with reporters from WCPO to share updates since the last time we talked, the question of “what are you thankful for this year?” eventually emerged. Admittedly, the list seems beyond boundaries this year.

access to resources and education that connected me to the possibility of HSCT; patience, time, and persistence to push back when Humana reversed their approval (though I’m still fighting this battle); dedication to research, science, and healing practiced by Dr. Burt; commitments to caring and wellness by the team of nurses at Northwestern and Prentice Women’s Hospital; encouragement and expertise of my team at Premier Physical Therapy; neuroplasticity and capacity to develop new neural pathways; clean wholesome foods that nourish my body; fresh water; a warm, safe home that supports my healing; awareness that there are too many others suffering in this world.

kindness and generosity extended by family, friends, neighbors and strangers.

loving care from my daughter and husband that support my shift from dis-ease to wellness.

practice of mindfulness to help me notice the goodness in everyday moments.

quite the cornucopia!

be kind. be aware of your abundance. be well.
