gratitude

Today I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude…

for my family and friends, especially my daughter, mother, husband, sisters, and neighbors…

for the school counselors at my daughter’s school who are making time to support her through this experience and found time to share an update with me this morning…

for Lucy May and Kathrine Nero with WCPO who took time to listen and report my story with grace and compassion…

for the care and coordination extended by the team of nurses and staff working with Dr. Burt at Northwestern Memorial…

for outstanding hospitality at the Hampton/Homewood Suites on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago…

for the outpouring of support from friends and acquaintances I haven’t seen in years…

for my practices of mindfulness, patience, and kindness so that even as I continue to struggle with walking, I pause to find gratitude for what once was, opportunity to be grounded in the moments of struggle and appreciate what I am able to do, and hope for what might be possible in the coming month.

Tomorrow brings an early morning of baseline measures at The Galter Pavilion including vein checks, and the EDSS test

and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be on this journey and enjoy sweet dreams. To everyone who has helped make this possibility a reality, a thousand times, thank you!

be kind. be hopeful. be well.

    Wow, Jen. Powerful stuff:
for my practices of mindfulness, patience, and kindness so that even as I continue to struggle with walking, I pause to find gratitude for what once was, opportunity to be grounded in the moments of struggle and appreciate what I am able to do, and hope for what might be possible in the coming month.

Thank you for being strong enough to share. My wife and I get a lot from your blog as we prepare to bring our son to Chicago in January.
    Be well.

Thank you for reading, finding inspiration, and for supporting your son through HSCT! I wish you all the best in your journey and am happy to do what I can to help answer any questions or connect you with answers or resources along the way. Take care!

I didn’t have notifications on and just saw your reply – thanks for the offer! We have been thinking about approaching a few veterans to see if they’d offer any advice. He has one more final this week – then we are going to point him at your blog among other things. I think it offers a lot – but of course we would welcome anything else you think might be helpful.
